Rockaway Beach and Hug Point, located along Oregon's breathtaking coastline, offer a stunning backdrop for a family photo session. Combining the picturesque sandy shores and sea grass of Rockaway Beach with the rugged beauty of Hug Point's cliffs and forest, this setting provides a rich canvas for capturing unforgettable family memories.
The journey began at Rockaway Beach, a quaint coastal town known for its expansive, sandy beach and iconic Twin Rocks. Rashael contacted me to capture her family memories starting at their home in Rockaway. From there is was a short walk to the beach. We explored to sand dunes and driftwood for some adventures photos. The serene expanse of Rockaway Beach, with its gentle waves and the occasional seagull soaring overhead, offers a relaxed and joyful atmosphere for the session. Their 3 kids playfully interacting, their laughter mingling with the sound of the ocean, while parents watch fondly, creating candid moments full of genuine emotion.
We photographed a variety of candid photos along with posed ones. Pictures of the family, kids together and a portrait of each kiddo. I love capturing an abundance of poses and looks to document real expressions, smiles and fun family time together.
After a series of shots at Rockaway Beach, the session moves to Hug Point, a short drive away. Hug Point is a treasure trove of natural beauty, featuring a waterfall that flows directly onto the beach, sea caves, and tide pools teeming with marine life. The dramatic cliffs and rocky outcrops contrast beautifully with the smooth sands, creating a diverse array of backdrops within a small area.
With their dog along for the session he jumped in here in there for some hilarious and special memories. At Hug Point we explored the tide pools first, then walked toward the rocks to check out tide pools and photograph family photos along the way as the sun began to set. The golden hour can be a magical time for photos
Throughout the session, the natural beauty of Rockaway Beach and Hug Point inspires a variety of compositions. I took advantage of the changing light and landscape, from the wide-open beach to the intimate, sheltered spaces among the rocks. The final images are a blend of candid moments and carefully composed shots, reflecting the family's bond and the stunning environment and Oregon Coast sunset.
In the end, this family photo session at Rockaway Beach and Hug Point is more than just a series of photographs. It is an experience that captures the essence of family life – the joy, the love, the adventure, and the beauty of time spent together in nature.
