Photographing with high school seniors is so much fun. It’s such an incredible time to preserve the time in life with so much anticipation for what the future holds. We happened upon a gorgeous sunset in Oswald West State Park on this last summer. With a fresh ocean breeze to go along with a golden sunset, the stage was set for a wonderful senior photo session.
Brooklynne’s mom contacted me to schedule her daughter’s photo session and was looking for a location that encapsulates the beauty of the Oregon Coast. She was looking for a lifestyle session with some amazing portraits. I knew just where to go. My all time favorite beach. Short Sand Beach in Oswald West State Park. An absolutely stunning location that checks all the boxes for a perfect photo session. And a location just up the highway from my family and I. We have spent countless beach days with our kids running around the sand and creek. Not to mention thousands of surf sessions over the almost 30 years I have been surfing.
We began our session strolling though the old growth forest taking natural and casually posed photographs along the way. I love capturing a variety of backgrounds, lighting and looks with each of my photography sessions. We hiked beside Necarney Creek, then over a suspension bridge with the sound of the ocean drawing closer. There are so many fantastic photo ops within this short hike. Photographing beside the creek and in the forest with the light streaming through the trees. We then arrived on the beach to a spectacular setting of the colorful ocean and sky. So much blue, green and orange. With the tall tree lined cliffs surrounding short sand beach cove. A truly magical place.
On this senior photo session Brooklynne had several looks to choose from. That really helped with providing variety for her pictures. Some colors looked better in the forest while others worked really well on the beach. We explored the forest, sand and rocks. It’s always great just being silly and having fun for your photo session. I helped lead the way for flattering poses and those perfectly composed pictures to make for beautiful photos. Guiding Brooklynne into creative and unique photos that she was excited to share with family and friends. She ended up with a gallery of 200 edited photographs that her and her family can cherish as she takes that next step in life.
