Cannon Beach is a wonderful place for your family photography sessions. From Haystack Rock to Ecola State Park there is a large variety of beautiful beaches to choose from. Sessions on the beach generally begin with photos in the grassy sand dunes overlooking the ocean and sea stacks. Then moving closer to the shore to capture fun and relaxed memories with your family together. Cannon Beach also offers quaint shops and restaurants to enjoy during your stay.
Kids love exploring the shore for shells, rocks and sea life. Capturing you and your family in your happy place makes for genuine photographs. I photograph a variety of posed, candid and lifestyle pictures that tell the story of your Oregon Coast adventure. With spectacular ocean view and gorgeous sunsets as your setting, you will love your photo gallery. With each session I photograph an assortment of combinations. The whole family photo, kids together, kids individually, parents, each parent with the kids, grandparent and anyone else that may join in on your family session. Providing you with an abundant gallery of pictures to download, print and enjoy for generations. I photograph large family reunions as well.
I can help with planning and choosing your perfect session location and time of day. Meeting on the beach near where you are staying works perfectly as well. The convenience of walking out onto the sand and meeting your photographer is one of the many perks of staying in Cannon Beach. I generally recommend early morning, afternoon or evening for the best lighting. Each session location in Cannon Beach offers gorgeous views and a unique and fun experience.
I am flexible with possible weather conditions and am happy to move your appointment time if needed to find dry weather. Generally our best weather is April through October, although anytime of year can work amazing. Winter temperatures are the in 50ās with summer temperatures running in the 70ās.
In preparation for your session I recommend clothing that is of pastel colors or shades including variations of black and white. It can be nice to compliment each other with colors or shades rather than completely match. Barefoot or sandals work well on the beach. Try to avoid very vibrant colors, very bold patterns, stripes, logos or hats that will shade your face. Hats can work well for some shots. Have warm clothing and layers on hand. Pack snacks for the kiddos. Happy kiddos make for the best photos. Bring a bag to put your extra things in. Possibly bring a kite, bubbles, a soccer ball or sand toys which can be fun for kids and help create nice photos. Although just being on the beach and exploring is most definitely enough to capture joyful pictures! When preparing for your session you can let your kids know that this will be more fun then your typical photo session.
I capture an assortment of posed and candid lifestyle photos. The candid photos will help to keep your kiddos more engaged and capture real smiles. They will then be more ready for those traditional posed photos. Having the beach as my studio is very helpful in creating real and natural expressions to capture your families personality and adventure together.
